Did you really just skip over the part of my post about why multiplatform games that don't appear on specific platforms are still important? :/

Wii U struggles because it is overpriced compared to the competition (PS3 and 360 for now), it offers very little in terms of exclusive or semi-exclusive content, it has a gimmick that not many care about.
I know what you wrote in the preceding paragraph, but you specifically outed Wii U with that statement. Why not apply it to both the PS and the XB platform?

...Because there are very few notable games that are skipping those platforms specifically? How many games did we see in this past generation of consoles that were PS3/360 or PS3/360/PC? And how many upcoming games are PS4/Xbox One/PC or can reasonably be expected to become so at some point?

The launch slates for PS4 and Xbox One have more than the usual run of timed exclusives, but the operating assumption is that those platforms will "probably" get most of the multiplatform titles sooner or later. From a technical standpoint, PS4, Xbox One and PC are now very close to one another and aside from stuff coded very close to the metal, pretty much anything that runs on one will run on the others, so anything that ends up permanently exclusive is likely due to financial considerations (Gears of War) or peculiarities of gameplay (Fantasia: Music Evolved), not technical challenges or porting costs.

Not to mention there are no major publishers actively avoiding those platforms (yet), unlike Nintendo's situation vis-a-vis the Wii U and EA.
